In its recent Decision Guide, Optimism Amid Uncertainty: How College and University Leaders Are Confronting Today’s Financial Challenges, Inside Higher Ed interviewed senior advisor to the president at NACUBO, Jim Hundrieser, and ACE’s senior vice president of education futures, Derrick Anderson, to discover which key factors are driving higher education optimism.

Why Are Institutional Leaders Optimistic About the State of Higher Education

According to Hundrieser and Anderson, several factors contribute to this positive outlook. Despite a shortage of traditional students, institutions are recognizing the importance of serving the growing demographic of non-traditional learners, including part-time students and working adults. This shift acknowledges that traditional students aren't the sole future of higher education and that there is a great opportunity to engage new students.
