Each year, Jenzabar sponsors approximately 60 interns from colleges and universities that use Jenzabar solutions. This is just one of the ways we give back to the Jenzabar community to say thank you to all of our wonderful customers.

We invite you to nominate a student to be the Jenzabar Intern for your campus next summer. Your intern can work for any department – admissions, financial aid, development, IT – as long as they are working on a Jenzabar solution-based project. We believe that exemplary interns tend to possess a combination of the four following qualities: positivity, diligence, enthusiasm for learning, and great communication skills.

Similar to Jenzabar's approach to servicing its partner institutions, the internship experience is tailored by each campus to each student awarded. Participating schools have ownership over the internship curriculum, allowing the program to fit the needs and schedules of all involved.

Jenzabar pays competitive wages to each selected intern. Interns will also be invited to JAM – Jenzabar’s Annual Meeting – the annual gathering for all Jenzabar clients. The interns will attend events, product training, and sessions together. This year JAM will be held May 29-June 1, 2019 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California!

During the four days of the conference, over 1,500 attendees will participate in hundreds of sessions and valuable networking opportunities to share best practices, learn more about Jenzabar products, connect with colleagues and the Jenzabar team, and discover complementary products and services from our corporate partners. Attending JAM offers Jenzabar interns an invaluable professional experience.

Meet a Jenzabar Intern - Ryan Couch

Ryan Couch is one of many outstanding Jenzabar interns and an example of the changing demographics of the new student. A retired Marine Corps Corporal, Couch served for four years, during which he deployed to Afghanistan twice. In 2014, after leaving the service, he enrolled at La Roche College to pursue a degree in Criminal Justice. However, after taking an elective in computer science, he discovered he loved programming.

Hearing about the Jenzabar Internship Program through a professor, Couch decided to apply. After reading his application, which articulately reflected both his passion and knack for computer science, we knew that Couch would make an outstanding Jenzabar Intern.

“The biggest thing for me is knowing how everything works,” explained Couch in a recent conversation. “One day I’ll be sitting at my desk, writing code, and the next I’ll be working with the clients and end-users. I love this aspect because it’s really something a software developer needs to understand. When I’m writing my code, I can’t just be thinking about what I want it to do. I need to be thinking about what end-users want it to do.”

Three months later, he has outshined even our greatest expectations. With the grant, Couch undertook a huge project, building a program that would enable students to access their transcripts within minutes. While he is still working on a way to automate this process completely, he has been able to setup a process where transcripts are transmitted to the National Student Clearinghouse electronically. The project was a huge success.

Couch is but one of many exceptional Jenzabar Interns making a difference at their institutions. Addressing long-standing needs with innovative solutions, the Jenzabar Interns are making an impact in both their communities and their world. They’re making higher education amazing.
